Blown Away.

I’ve been hearing tons of buzz about Adele’s new Album 21 so this week I decided to give it a listen. I love Adele’s sound. I’ve loved her since Chasing Pavements. She has such a strong voice, it leaves me in awe.  In an article on Wikipedia, she describes her sound as “heartbroken soul” which is just peeerrrfect, in my opinion.

Last night while discussing the album with some of A’s roommates I learned that the whole album 21 is written about one guy, one relationship. That’s why it flows to well- it’s the same emotion through out. I love when albums flow like this, when they make sense. It reminds me of Mae’s Everglow album ( it’s supposed to a be a description of the different stages of a relationship from meeting to falling in love and starting a family) which is one of my favorite albums ever. I also learned that the album’s sound was influenced a lot by Mumford & Son’s Sigh No More and Adele’s US tour bus drive who was always playing country music… It’s interesting to learn where artists find their inspiration.

This video is my favorite of the ones we were googling last night. It’s a live recording done in her house so it feel super intimate and private- which is fitting considering the song gives the same feeling. There’s an explanation of the song at the beginning and, I’ll admit, I had a tear or two in my eye and some major goose pumps when I first saw this video…

PS. I also love that she’s not a twig AND she’s a ginger! <3
